Olitek 2016 Australian and Oceania Masters Weightlifting Championships incorporating Pacific Rim Masters Tournament

The Event

Weightlifting Tasmania welcomes international teams, and Australian participants and supporters to the Olitek 2016 Australian and Oceania Weightlifting Championships to be held 3-5 June in Hobart. This event is also an open invitational event for Masters around the Pacific Rim.

The Competition Venue

The venue for the championships is the Grandstand Hall at the Hobart Showgrounds. The venue is 800m2 and is used regularly for concerts and exhibitions. The hall is heated, has high ceilings, multiple entrances and there is easy vehicle access and free parking is available.

In close proximity to the Grandstand Hall (just above), there is a catering area with a full commercial kitchen. The venue is licensed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Training Venue

The training venue is the Weightlifting Academy of Tasmania, 18 Knoll Street, Glenorchy. This venue is approximately 200m from the competition venue. The training venue has 14 platforms with appropriate bars, weight discs and squat stands. The training venue has separate change facilities for male and female, a kitchen and onsite massage if required. The training venue is a dedicated facility solely for Weightlifting purposes.

It is best to book accommodation as soon as possible as accommodation will be booked by spectators of a significant Football game on Friday/Saturday.
