The Chris Chugg Memorial Tournament is an open Weightlifting tournament, for all levels of ability and all ages, that will take place on 2 March 2019 at the new location of the Weightlifting Academy of Tasmania at 110 Mornington Road, Mornington.
In 2019, the method for joining as a member of Weightlifting Tasmania has changed. On the top right-hand corner of the screen on this website, you will see a menu item "JOIN". Please follow this link to take out membership of Weightlifting Tasmania for 2019. You will note that your membership has to be approved but this will occur in 1-2 days. Waiting for your membership to be approved should not restrain you from purchasing entry into competitions which is achieved through the "SHOP" link on the same menu above. Your entries for the first event for the year - State Masters Championships and Presidents Cu Round 1 is due today (05/01/2019).
Throughout the year at each competition hosted by Weightlifting Tasmania, a referee panel confers and awards votes to 3 nominees immediately following each session. The criteria upon which votes are awarded may include skill displayed, competitiveness, making 6 out of 6 lifts, courage or any other factor at the discretion of the referees.

The 2018 Australian Weightlifting Championships were very successful for Tasmania. Our team of 12 athletes took 8 medals.
