Weightlifting Tasmania would like to thank all the volunteers, competitors, officials, spectators, and the host club Align Fitness/Weightlifting Academy of Tasmania for helping to make the 10th Anniversary Chris Chugg Memorial and President Cup Round One  a great success.

Medal placings were awarded on the basis of percentage of World Records in the athlete's respective age group (Senior, Under 20 or Under 17).

Results:

1st Camilla Fogagnolo

72.28%

2nd Sean Fitzgerald

71.83%

3rd Kaity Fassina

66.87%

The Chris Chugg tournament brought people together from the past and present. It was a welcome and fitting result that the event was won by Camilla Fogagnolo as Chris Chugg was her coach. Indeed, Kaity Fassina was also discovered and coached by Chris Chugg.

Sean Fitzgerald was a worthy second place, losing by a mere 0.45%.

Weightlifting in Tasmania has grown in participation over the last decade, especially among women and masters athletes. What is needed is more youth athletes and it is greatly appreciated that Sean Fitzgerald was also involved on the day coaching his young group of athletes who participated in a special session at the start of the day. Chris Chugg would have been most pleased.

Our community of weightlifting is small but enthusiastic. It is always important to understand that such competitions can only run with volunteers working behind the scene as loaders, computer operators, referees, time clock and announcers. Thank you to you all. Weightlifting Tasmania continues to grow because of you. If Chris was alive today, he would have been pleased at how weightlifting has grown in Tasmania.
