Date: Saturday 2nd December 2023

Venue: Portside Barbell, The Strength Den, Devonport

  • Deadline for general entry: 11:59 PM on Saturday 18th November 2023 or if registrations exceed the cap of 35.

Who can enter?

The competition taking place on 2nd December is the Final of the President’s Cup. Invitations have been sent out to those athletes that are currently in the Top 3 of each President’s Cup category. Priority entry will be given to these athletes.

All President's Cup awards are calculated from the highest 4 Sinclair scores from the current calendar year's sanctioned competitions.

How to register your entry for this competition

If you received an invitation to compete, you’ll need to contact Jacinta Keating and arrange for the entry portal to be activated.

Go to the link " Competition Registration" on the top menu, right-hand side. You will only be able to register if you are a member of Weightlifting Tasmania Inc.

When you register there are three pieces of information that the entry system requires:

  • Enter your email address.
  • Enter your date of birth.
  • Enter your AWF code which you receive by email when you become a member/and your membership is approved. Contact Jacinta Keating if you need assistance with your code.

Once these details are entered the system will then identify you and you will be able to proceed.

Registration cost is $25.

Nomination of entry total and bodyweight category

Please nominate your entry total for this competition. At your discretion, you should nominate either your previous best total or an amount less than your previous best total.

The President’s Cup is run on the basis of Sinclair points, not bodyweight categories. It is useful to make a habit of declaring a bodyweight category but for this competition, your declaration does not force you to make weight.

Guidelines for Competitors

The expected standard of dress for competitors who are new to Weightlifting competitions is that clothing must not be loose, and that elbows should be clearly visible. These rules allow referees to adjudicate appropriately. If a T-Shirt and shorts are worn, the T-Shirt must be tucked in. Tights may be worn, with or without shorts over the top.

Competitors who are regular participants in the competition should wear competition apparel that abides by the International Rules of Weightlifting. This means wearing a lifting costume.

As per new IWF technical rules, athletes are required to be weighed in whilst wearing their lifting suit or lifting apparel, and a maximum of 250gms will be deducted from their recorded bodyweight.

All competitors should be aware that the maximum width of a Weightlifting belt is 12cm.

The competition format will follow the 'ascending bar principle', as normal. This means that competitors choosing the lightest weights go first, and the bar only goes up in weight during the course of the session.

If you need any assistance please contact Jacinta Keating – ja_keating@hotmail.com or 0423 458 468
