It is with regret that the board is announcing the resignation of Leo Isaac as President and a board member of Weightlifting Tas. The board would like to express our appreciation for the guidance, knowledge and experience that Leo has brought to the board, and wish him well for his future endeavours. Leo has kindly offered to continue assisting the board with specific tasks and duties and we will see him around the lifting platform. In the interim Mark Brown and Christine O'Malley will be acting President at board meetings and selected events.
To ensure the continued growth and success of Weightlifting Tas, the board feel that there are changes required to the current constitution, as a result the board is currently in the process of compiling these changes. The proposed changes will then be put to the membership as a whole for consideration and voting on at a special general meeting (or via proxy) that we have scheduled to occur on 19 March, after the competitions. At this stage we are anticipating that members of the board will be available at both the northern and southern meetings to present the proposed amendments and voting will be available via proxies for those that are unable to attend.
Subsequently the AGM is scheduled to be held at CrossFit Levitate on 2 April. At this stage there will be 7 positions up for election at the AGM. Further information will be provided in relation to both meetings mentioned here closer to the date.
The board has also decided that the annual Club team championship will be held on 2 April after the State
Masters competition. Any Masters lifter who will be lifting as part of a team can have their attempts from the Masters competition, that will be held in the morning sessions, counted as their attempts in the club championship. The AWF will use the recorded results from this competition to select the teams that will compete in the National Club Championships to be held later in the year.
